Carlos Lozano - Rider # 317
As a 26 year old millennial, I cannot speak to the struggles that our community has encountered due HIV/AIDS in the ways others can. Although my experience with the disease is minimal, it still doesn't take away from the fact that I myself have friends fighting the virus everyday. I hear of the hassle, particularly when it comes to expense, and it makes me think that there must be something more that we can do. This year, in honor of those that continue to fight the fight, as well as those we may have lost, I will be riding from Miami to Key West, for a total of 165-miles, to raise money for AIDS Service Organizations across the state of Florida.
This year will mark the 17th year of The SMART Ride journey, and I have set an ambitious goal to help raise at least $1250 because I believe what we do makes a difference (and because 100% of the money you donate will go back to the community).
The event guarantees that every penny that I raise (with your help) will be given to AIDS Service Organizations and directed to prevention, education and direct services. Together we can make a real difference, we can change the world, and help free future generations of living with HIV, while helping those already affected, infected or at risk today stay healthy.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world, indeed; it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
