Welcome Packet

Dear SMART Ride Crew Member,

Congratulations on joining The Southern Most AIDS/HIV Ride Twenty-Eleven, “SMART Ride 8”. You will join hundreds of other individuals on this two day journey from Miami to Key West to celebrate life and to remember, and honor those who have passed, from this still incurable disease. If you are a returning participant Thank You, if this is your first SMART Ride, we are humbled that you have chosen to be a part of, what we consider; “More Than A Ride”.

Now that you are registered you will be contacted by  shortly by Crici Stroy-Martin our Crew Manager and then by Carol Spicer our Participant Support Manager to determine what your interests are and where we can best use your help. In the meantime look through the website and under the Participant section, review the crew descriptions to get a sense of what might interest you.  (Positions in high demand are Massage Therapists, Cheerleaders and Bike Tech’s, if you know anyone with these skills, please ask them to register, and for that matter ask everyone you know to come along).

Although not required, Crew are encouraged to join the riders in raising pledges. There are many great ways to fund raise, but the first and simplest is to send a letter (yes that simple), tell your story, be compassionate, let people know why your volunteering. Most importantly send it to EVERYONE you know, you’ll be surprised by the response. Download- Fill In and Print your Donation Form and check out and alter our sample pledge letter. Once this is done, take a look at our fundraising ideas for other simple things you can do. If each crew member raises just $500 that’s $100,000 more to help those in need!
